TWO MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMS FOCUS ON TEENS
April 23, 2007/Iowa City, IA: A free presentation and free confidential screenings will be held during the first week of May for individuals, especially teenagers and high school seniors heading off to college, troubled by anxiety and/or obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The free presentation will focus on anxiety. It will be held on Tuesday, May 1, at 6 p.m., in the first floor conference room at Mercy Hospital, 500 East Market Street, Iowa City. Speakers will be Michael Hartley, a University of Iowa PhD candidate, and Kimberly Sheff, MD, psychiatry.
Free, confidential screenings focusing on obsessive-compulsive disorder will be offered on Thursday, May 3, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Psychiatric Associates, 319 East Bloomington Street, Iowa City. The senior year in high school can be exciting but can also present tough life transitions. Not only is anxiety very common at this time of life, but other mental health disorders can come to the forefront. All interested individuals are invited to take advantage of these free programs to learn more.
