MERCY OFFERS INTERNET ACCESS—AND A CUP OF JOE TOO
April 13, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Need to get in touch with family members or take care of business? Why not grab a cup of Starbucks, pull up a chair and log onto the Internet with your laptop?
Sound like your favorite coffeehouse?
It’s Mercy Iowa City—now offering wireless Internet access in most areas of the hospital, as well as Starbucks coffee in the cafeteria. Access is provided in public waiting areas, cafeteria, atrium, most patient rooms and the Guest Lodging area.
“This wireless access is what you would find in any public area,” says Paul Foelsch, Mercy’s vice president of information services. “We can’t guarantee its availability, privacy or security. But it will be helpful to patients and visitors who want to use the Internet while they are here.”
For those needing assistance, printed instructions are available at Mercy’s main lobby information desk. For those who cannot establish a wireless connection or who do not have a laptop computer, a PC with Internet access is available in the family communication center near the main lobby.
