MERCY PROFESSIONAL RECEIVES COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION
February 12, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Tina Sullivan, RN, CHC, JCAHO Coordinator and Corporate Compliance Officer at Mercy Iowa City, has successfully completed the examination to become certified in Healthcare Compliance. Sullivan is only the ninth person in the state of Iowa to become certified and one of only 500 across the country to do so. She has worked at Mercy since 1997.
Healthcare compliance is a relatively new field, born out of the federal government's need to control Medicare fraud. Compliance professionals are charged with the task of assuring that healthcare providers follow federal, state, and local regulations that govern the delivery of healthcare.
