NATIONAL EXPERT TO DISCUSS PANDEMIC FLU

March 9, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Nationally recognized avian flu and pandemic flu expert Russell W. Currier, DVM, MPH, will make a free public presentation at Mercy Iowa City this month.

Dr. Currier will present “Pandemic Flu: From Historical Perspectives to Contemporary Concerns” on Saturday, March 31, from 10 to 11 a.m., in the hospital’s first floor conference room. A free continental breakfast will be provided to attendees.

The presentation will include historical perspectives on pandemic flu, implications for current concerns and information that should ease anxiety levels.

Dr. Currier is an environmental epidemiologist with the Iowa Department of Public Health and an associate professor at Iowa State University. Prior to coming to Iowa, Dr. Currier worked with the Centers for Disease Control.
