Hear from the Doctors – Forum to Focus on Lung Cancer
July 27, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Hear from the Doctors at the next Mercy Hospital Foundation’s Education Forum, Focus on Lung Cancer on Saturday, August 25, from 9-11 a.m. in the McAuley rooms.
When it comes to lung cancer there are no easy answers but there is information available. This free program will include information on lung cancer in those who have never smoked (20 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer and 8 percent of men) and the difference between the lung as a site of origin and metastasized lung cancer.
A panel of Mercy physicians will focus on their areas of specialization.
Dr. Alan Moy, pulmonologist, will address the advanced technology being used at Mercy for detection and treatment of lung cancer. Dr. John Van Rybroek will illustrate how lung cancer appears to a pathologist and Dr. Brian Potts will show what lung cancer looks like in radiographs and scans. Both doctors will demonstrate the advanced technology used to diagnose this life-threatening disease.
Dr. James Feeley will cover medical oncology, and Dr. Terese Howes will address the role of radiation in treatment.
There is no charge for the program but registration through Mercy on Call at 358-2767 or 800-358-2767 is required. A light breakfast from The Bread Garden will be offered before the program, beginning at 8:15 a.m.
