New
recognition wall honors Mercy donors
July 30, 2008/Iowa
City, IA: A new donor recognition wall installed adjacent to the
skywalk entrance to Mercy Iowa City recognizes donors who have supported
Mercy with consistent giving. The artful display also highlights
the 135-year history of Mercy.
Featured on
the wall is a portrait of Sisters of Mercy foundress Catherine McAuley
and her words, “God will never see you want for means to do
his work.”
The donor recognition
wall also lists the McAuley Legacy Society, which honors individuals
that have remembered Mercy in their will and those who intend to
remember Mercy in their estate plans.
Hills Bank and
Trust Company, an institution that has also served the community
for more than a century, sponsored the wall.
The
Foundation's longtime brass recognition wall recognizes gifts that
helped establish the Foundation’s endowment and made special
projects possible. It will remain in the main elevator lobby.
