MERCY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION OFFERS
HEALTH CAREER SCHOLARSHIPS TO AREA STUDENTS
January 5, 2007/Iowa City, IA: Mercy Hospital Foundation is once again offering health career scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in a designated health-related field. There will be ten scholarships available for students pursuing the following professions and/or programs:
• Pharmacy
• Radiology technology
• Respiratory therapy
• Clinical laboratory sciences
• Surgical technology
• Physical therapy
• Nursing
High school students in Mercy's service area of Johnson, Cedar, Washington, Iowa, Muscatine, Henry, Louisa, Jefferson, Lee and Keokuk counties are eligible to apply. The scholarship is for $1,000 per year. It is renewable for up to four years as long the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.8 and continues to pursue a degree in the designated area of health care.
This is the fifth year that health career scholarships have been awarded by the Foundation. The primary funding sources are donations made through Mercy employee campaigns and the Mercy Hospital Guild.
Deadline is February 22. Applications can be picked up in Human Resources or downloaded from Mercy’s Web site: www.mercyiowacity.org.
